Do the right thing

He clarified a point he made in an earlier email.

He said that at some point he'd probably give back the key I'd given him, because, in reality, it would become hidden among the myriad of things he owned.

Not 'lost', because "that implies it'll never come back".

And it's true. The key would end up among his countless things within his office. His office, which is one of the most frightening things I've ever seen.

The state of the room in which a person functions says a lot about them, it really and truly does.

The idea that the key would have to be returned, because with him it wouldn't have the chance to inspire memories... is sad.

It's a sad thought.

I'm not going to rationalize it; I'm just going to let it stay like that.
